Amendment to Rule of Boat racing Number 13

The Annual General Meeting of the Hants & Dorset ARA, held on 9th March, 2013 approved a change to a Rule of Boat Racing - number 13 - which now reads as follows -

13. - If the umpire has disqualified a crew or is otherwise dissatisfied with the proper conduct of a race he shall hoist a red flag at the end of the race in which case the judges shall make no announcement of the result until the decision of the umpires has been notified to them. An umpire will only hoist a red flag during the race if he wishes to stop the race. [Amended March, 2013].

The rule change clarifies when a red flag should be used to stop a race - and brings the rule in-line with current practise.

New H&D ARA constitution

Following on from the work of the Rules Sub Committee a new Hants & Dorset ARA constitution was approved at the Annual General Meeting of 9th March, 2013 - that replaces the Associations General Rules. These will be circulated to all Clubs in due course - but can now be downloaded from the Rules section of the Web Site in - pdf. format.

Promotion from Novice status - rule change for 2013 season

Please note at the Associations Annual General Meeting, on Saturday, 9th March - a change to the Rules of Boat racing was approved and as a result, for the 2013 season, promotion from Novice status - Mens and Ladies - in the coxed fours event will take place after one win not two. Promotion from Novice status in Mens and Ladies single sculls - will still be after a second win.

Bryanston (Wessex) Junior Regatta

We can now confirm that the Junior Regatta at Bryanston School will be going ahead this year - but that the date has changed to SUNDAY, 9th JUNE, the day after Christchurch Regatta. More information to follow in due course.
