H&D ARA (& Wessex) Safety Meeting. Saturday, 17th February, 2018 on the IW. A heads-up.7

H&D ARA (& Wessex) Safety Meeting. Saturday, 17th February, 2018 on the IW. A heads-up.

The 2018 Hants & Dorset ARA (& Wessex) Safety Meeting is due to be held on the IW on Saturday, 13th February.

Most Club & Event Secretaries and Club Water Safety Advisers will be aware that the Annual H&DARA Safety circulates around the Clubs - allowing the Safety Committee to audit the hosting club. In this way every H&D ARA Club gets a safety audit at least every ten years - which is along time - but significantly more often than any other BR Region achieves - where many clubs have never received an audit.
The one exception to this is the IW - where because of the additional logistics and costs involved we audit all three Clubs and hold the meeting on the same day.
This year we complete the second full cycle (or is it the third!) of H&DARA Clubs with a visit to the IW - although in 2019 - the rota will be extended by one years when we make our first visit to the newest H&D Club at Dolphin.
The plan for the IW visit will be in line with the previous visit in 2008 - where delegates will be asked to be on the IW for around 9.00am - where they will be picked-up in the Ryde Minibus - from either Ryde or Cowes - and taken to the Folly - where Ryde have a boathouse, Newport and Shanklin to audit their facilities - and then to Ryde for lunch (RRC will provide) where as well as an audit of this clubhouse the meeting will take place - after which delegates will be returned to their ports of departure. We could consider a pick-up from Yarmouth as well - although this will something of a strain on the logistics!
A formal invitation to and agenda for the meeting will follow once the arrangements have been finalised.
In the mean time it would be really useful if delegates could confirm their intention to attend or not - remembering that any Club not attending may be penalised by the Association - and their ideal port of arrival to allow us to plan the transport and catering.
Regards.
Steve Bull.
